Driven by a desire to see people live life wholly, healthy, and free. With a special heart towards the empowerment of women and children, Karen founded the Institute of Self-Discovery (ISD) in 2005. Her motto is that if women can get past all of the unhealthy beliefs and ideals that have served to hold them back, such as trying to be perfect and believing that who they are is not good enough, they can discover who they truly are and see themselves as God sees them. This way, they can position themselves to live the life God desires them to live. That is why she doesn't mind sharing the 'pearls of wisdom' she has learned along her own journey.

Personally and professionally, the focal point of all Karen does is inspired by a desire to see others grow their wings and fly.

Karen is a certified trainer in the areas of diversity, women's issues and wellness for women, as well as a certified life coach through the Professional Woman Network. She received her certification as a Certified Professional in human resources through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is also a certified trainer through Langevin Learning Services Train-the Trainer for professional development. Karen worked in the public sector for over 30 years. Seventeen of those years, she worked in the Human Resources Division; first as an Employee Development & Training Specialist and, most recently, as a Principal Strategic Staffing Recruiter until her retirement in 2017. Karen utilizes her Human Resources background to match people with their skill set and passion.

Karen is available for seminars, workshops, life skills training, keynote addresses and personal coaching. A staunch supporter for women and children, Karen is certified as a Domestic Violence Advocate in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children navigating the foster care system in Morris and Sussex counties in New Jersey through National CASA.

An avid reader of all things and a writer as well, Karen has co-authored four books for the Professional Woman Library, which are "Self-Esteem and Empowerment for Women", "Beyond the Body: Developing Inner Beauty", "Christian Woman's Guide for Personal Success", and "Raising African American Boys". She was also a contributing author to the Zoe Life Publishing journal series for 2012 and 2013.  Karen has self-published the short novel, "All Roads Lead Home" and will soon be releasing another novel, "No Longer Willing" and a devotional prayer journal titled "Dear Heart Devotions," healing devotions for women navigating transition and change. She also released "Peeling Back the Layers" published through Rhonda's Publishing Company in 2017.

A strong believer in the bond of sisterhood, Karen is the former Chapter Director of the Sister Network International Association's (based out of Southern California) New Jersey chapter, a support group for professional women, which met on a monthly basis in New Jersey.
